As we head toward the new year for 2009, here is an update on Spacecraft Films projects. I must say we have found ourselves with more projects in various stages of production than we have had before, and will be focusing in early 2009 in completing those projects closest to release.
We are adding some interviews to the Cape set, and as soon as those are shot at the beginning of 2009 we will be finishing up the Cape and releasing it. This has been a much anticipated set, and since the subject matter is very wide it has been a challenge to boil it down for fitting to the 3 discs. Earlier in the year we completed an interview with Jack King, the voice of launch control, and will be shooting other interesting interviews and recording commentary to round out the set. This project includes extensive material on construction at the Cape, including (but not limited to) 14, 19, 34, 37 and 39. In 2008 we also shot around the area to show what the pads look like in their current state.
As we have mentioned before, the Apollo 11 4 DVD set "To The Moon" is currently being held for release for improved EVA footage, which is in the works.
After we clear the Cape set and get it out, we will continue work on the Space Shuttle set, which is a very large set. We have completed cutting down all of the footage through STS-2, and as soon as we're done with the Cape we will finish up STS-3 and STS-4 and get the massive Space Shuttle set out the door. I'm expecting a spring release for this set.
The Gemini Flight Director Orientation and the Project Apollo sets will begin shipping in January.
