I don't know why, maybe because it is Friday and I've had a lot of thoughts recently about the last shuttle mission, and how pad 39 doesn't have a manned launch scheduled for the foreseeable future for the first time since it was constructed, but I'm feeling really nostalgic for the Saturn V. Now to be honest, I've always loved the Saturn 1B as my favorite looking rocket (when the fuel tanks were painted black) but the Saturn V was simply an awesome beast. One of my favorite shots was this one of Apollo 4, the first Saturn V launch. Always loved the lighting and the frost coming off the first stage.

As I sit here working on shipping and encoding some shuttle material, I believe I'll pop in the Saturn V set on one of my test DVD players.
