Ten years ago, almost exactly, the idea for Spacecraft Films was developed into a small business. The idea was simple - I had grown up with a deep interest in manned space exploration, and wanted the TV transmissions and audio-visual documentation of those days to view again. Plus, I had always been annoyed - even as a child - at commentators either not being accurate or talking over mission events I wanted to hear and see. So after a 20+ career in broadcast marketing and management, Spacecraft Films was born.
From the start I knew it was a small, niche, market - and it is. But I thought there were enough others with my same interest that would like this material at the highest possible quality. As you know, our sets aren't for those with just a passing interest or those looking for just a brief overview. They are specific and comprehensive and sometimes contain material others would find, well, boring. After all, our Saturn sets actually contain some cameras inside propellant tanks as they are drained during a mission. But for those of us who share this deep interest, this material is splendid.

We are also very proud that the result of our work is in public and school and university libraries throughout the world, and we routinely receive requests and grant permission for our products to be used in public museum displays and educational courses. We've even been able to serve NASA through our collections and knowledge of the archive - by providing or pointing to past engineering footage that is useful to current projects.
